Primrose jasmine is a scrambling evergreen shrub growing to 10 ft tall by
3-7 ft wide, with fragrant yellow flowers in spring and summer. Flowers are
usually solitary, in leaf-axils or rarely at branch-ends; bracts
leafy, obovate or lanceshaped, 5-10 mm. Flower-stalks are 3-8 mm. Sepal-cup
is bell-shaped; sepals 5-8, leafy, lanceshaped, 4-7 mm. Flowers are yellow,
2-4.5 cm in diamter; with a narrow funnel-shaped tube 1-1.5 cm. Petals are
6-8, doubled in
cultivation, broadly obovate or oblong, 1.1-1.8 cm. Leaves opposite,
3-foliolate or simple at base of branchlets; leaf-stalk 0.5-1.5 cm;
leaf blade broadly ovate or elliptic.
Primrose jasmine is native to southwestern China.
